LOS ANGELES, California/USA (Tuesday, November 16, 2021) - On November 21, WSL Studios, the World Surf League's studio arm, will launch the first episode of (DE)TOUR: SURF TOWNS presented by Hydro Flask, a six-part series that follows hosts Hunter Jones and Lex Weinstein on a roadtrip through California's iconic surf cities. Each episode will feature one surf town, showcasing the local culture and community of California cities, such as Encinitas, San Clemente, Huntington Beach, Malibu, Santa Cruz, and San Francisco. The remaining five episodes will be released weekly, every Sunday at WorldSurfLeague.com.
"This show is a celebration of the California towns that define surf culture," said Ryan Holcomb, EVP and Head of WSL Studios. Pro surfer and filmmaker, Hunter Jones hosts each episode alongside surfer and storyteller Lex Weinstein. The duo drove up the coastline of the golden state checking for waves, and connecting with local legends while experiencing adventure and freedom onboard the new Jeep® Wrangler 4xe. Each week, the audience is invited to follow the journey of learning more about iconic waves and legendary personalities, while discovering the location's must-visit post-surf burritos, and the most authentic surf shops owned and operated by local surfers. Surf Towns highlights each city's best kept secrets and all the must-see spots for anyone looking to learn more about these towns or even visit themselves.
Weinstein and Jones will also meet with local organizations that are helping push the sport forward by celebrating diversity and promoting inclusivity in surfing, such as the City Surf Project in San Francisco, A Walk on Water in Malibu, and Un Mar de Colores in Encinitas.
